Description:
It has broad head with depressed snout. Body is elongated, and strongly compressed. Mouth is very deeply cleft. Vomerine teeth are present in two small patches. Two pairs of barbels are present; maxillary barbels extending to anterior margin posterior of anal fin, mandibulary barbels to angle of mouth. Eyes are small. Dorsal fin small and anal fin very long. Mandibular barbels are longer than pelvic fin. Dorsal soft rays (total): 5; Anal soft rays: 77 – 97.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Occur in rivers, pools, ponds, beels, baors. Associated with deep, still or slow-flowing water with a mud or silt substrate.

Freshwater, Brackish (Demersal; potamodromous)
