The organism’s body is irregularly ovoid, sometimes with a broad anterior end or widest in the middle. Its circular oral aperture is located at the apex, leading to a conical cytopharynx supported by trichites. Somatic ciliation is uniform, originating from bipolar kinetosomes, and there is a group of approximately six long caudal cilia. The cilia around the mouth are organized into three groups: the closest to the oral aperture forms a single row, followed by a double row, and finally, the ring nearest to the somatic cilia consists of four closely arranged rows. It resides in a thin, transparent membranous lorica with a single narrow aperture and typically lives in anaerobic environments, where it feeds on sulfur bacteria. This organism is often mistaken for Pelatractus, which lacks caudal cilia and has a different arrangement of peribuccal cilia.
