The body shape of this organism is irregularly ovoid, with variations such as a broad anterior end or a widest point in the middle of the body. It features a circular oral aperture located at the apex, leading to a conical cytopharynx supported by trichites. Somatic ciliation is uniform and arises from bipolar kinetosomes, with a small group of long caudal cilia present. Around the mouth, there are three groups of cilia: the closest to the oral aperture forms a single row, followed by a double row, and finally, the ring nearest to the somatic cilia consists of four closely arranged rows of cilia. This organism resides in a thin, transparent membranous lorica with a single narrow aperture and typically inhabits anaerobic environments where it feeds on sulfur bacteria. It is often mistaken for Pelatractus, which lacks caudal cilia and has a different arrangement of peribuccal cilia.
