Description:
It is a perennial aquatic carnivorous plant that floats freely on the water surface. Lacking roots, it instead has rhizoids at the base of the peduncle. The numerous leaves are arranged alternately along the stem and are finely pinnately compound. Specialized structures called ‘utricles’ are found at the leaf segments, obliquely ovoid in shape. The flowers are bright yellow with reddish-brown veins in the petals and are bilabiate.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
It occurs in various aquatic habitats such as ponds, lakes, ditches, beels, haors, swamps, and rice fields. It is widespread throughout Bangladesh.
