Description:
The organism’s body is a single, unbranched filament with differentiation into an apex and base. The cells are organized in a linear fashion within the filament, presenting a bright green coloration. Each cell contains a band or girdle-shaped chloroplast housing one or more pyrenoids. Reproduction occurs through vegetative, asexual, and sexual processes.

These organisms are present in both freshwater and marine environments.
