Description:
The organism is encased in a protective shell-like structure known as a lorica, which can take on spherical, cylindrical, or pyriform shapes. The cell displays a vibrant green coloration and contains discoid or shield-shaped chloroplasts, occasionally with pyrenoids. The outer covering appears smooth and ranges in color from yellow to brown. A flagellum is located at the apex of the cell. Asexual reproduction involves the nucleus dividing to produce two daughter cells.

Commonly found in freshwater.
