Description:
The body is elongated with a broader anterior end forming a cephalic lobe. The head has three pairs of head organs and two pairs of eyespots. The postpharyngeal gland opens on the inner surface of the pharynx. The intestinal caeca are simple and join posteriorly. The opisthaptor is sharply separated from the main body and has pairs of dissimilar anchors, each supported by a transverse bar and seven pairs of marginal hooklets. Both dorsal and ventral anchors have an accessory piece at the base.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
It is an obligate parasite of the freshwater featherback, Notopterus notopterus and matures within the gill filaments of its host. It is widely distributed in Bangladesh.
