Description:
The body is elongated with two pairs of glandular head lobes and two pairs of eyespots. A rounded pharynx leads to a two crural intestine, with lateral crura merging posterior to the testis and widening at the confluence. There are seven pairs of hooks featuring a flat, wide “heel” on each hooklet. The dorsal anchors have a strong point and a smaller inner root.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
The species is host-specific and an obligate parasite of the freshwater shark, Wallago attu. It reaches sexual maturity in the gill filments of the host. It is distributed throughout Bangladesh.
