Description:
D1 17; D2 absent; P1 15; P2 I/7; A 3+17. Body silvery with yellow tinge; a diffuse dark blotch behind gill opening; fins hyaline. Body fusiform, moderately deep and strongly compressed; belly with 28 to 30 secutes; a distinct median notch in upper jaw; pre-operculum with an obtuse rounded angle; gill rakers fine.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Abundant in Bay of Bengal, estuaries and tidal rivers.

Marine, Freshwater, Brackish (Pelagic-neritic; anadromous)

It is an anadromous fish. Also found in marine environment
