This genus was established to include three pelagic rotifers primarily found in freshwater environments. They lack loricae. Their corona is adorned with four long sensory bristles, and their bodies are conical in shape with small toes. These rotifers are planktonic species.
Their trophi are rod-shaped (virgate), with a distinct V-shaped, striated hypopharyngeal muscle that is visible from the ventral view of the intact animal. The corona features auricles and setae. The body is typically conical or bell-shaped, ending in a foot with toes, although in some instances, the foot or toes may be reduced. Additionally, the corona is convex, with four notable sensory bristles, and is laterally adorned with two ciliated auricles.
