Description:
The cell displays bilateral symmetry and consists of two hemicells separated by a narrow isthmus. Each hemicell bears a distinct number of “arms,” ranging from 2 to over 10 depending on the species. These arms are adorned with short spines referred to as “toes” and feature ornamentation known as “warts” on their cellulose walls.
