Description:
This fish has a long, flattened body (elongate and compressed) with a broad snout. It has barbels that are quite long, reaching all the way back to its pelvic fins or even further back to its anal fin. The dorsal fin on its back has one stiff spine followed by 7 softer rays. The anal fin has no spines and 11 to 12 soft rays. The fish is brownish-gray on its back and silvery on its sides and belly. It has a small, adipose fin on its back with a short base, and this fin has a dark, well-defined spot on it.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Widely distributed in the rivers, canals, khals, beels, ponds, lakes, ditches.
