Description:
Colonies exhibit a spherical, subspherical, or somewhat irregular outline, with the development of sub-colonies leading to the formation of daughter colonies. The cells are elongated along the radial axis and are situated at the ends of branching stalks. While the cells are obovate, they remain partially connected for a portion of the cell cycle, resulting in a distinctive heart shape. A noticeable gap always exists between neighboring single or paired cells.
