These are brownish in color, with bodies featuring a dorsal margin and a cervical incision. Female individuals typically measure between 0.5 to 1.2 mm, while males range from 0.4 to 0.7 mm in size. They possess a sizable head with a prominent compound eye and a trilobate rostrum. The posterior margin is somewhat convex, and the valves exhibit reticulations near this margin. The first antenna is short and bears sensory setae, while the second antenna is long. Reproduction occurs through cyclic parthenogenesis.
