Description:
A robust, aquatic perennial herb with extensive stolons terminating in tubers. Its arrowhead-shaped leaves have hastate or sagittate bases, and smooth margins. The plant produces racemes of flowers, with male flowers in the upper whorls and female flowers in the lower whorls, all white in color. Its fruit consists of winged achenes that are obliquely obovate in shape.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
It is commonly found in low-lying areas, shallow water ditches, lakes, rivers, and brackish water bays. In Bangladesh, this species is widespread across the country.
