Description:
The organism’s test, or shell, is disc-shaped (patelliform), firm, transparent, and marked with punctures. The circular aperture occupies nearly the entire diameter of the shell. Its cytoplasm resembles that of Arcella, another genus of amoebas. There is a single nucleus present, along with one or more contractile vacuoles. This species is found in freshwater environments. The aperture is nearly as wide as the base of the shell, and the shell itself may have indistinct punctuations.
