Description:
Elongated body with flat ventral portion. Eyes situated on the dorsal portion of the head. Opening of mouth is very wide and have barbels. Body with rough scales, lower surface of head and abdomen are naked. Black or blackish with orange irregular marks throughout the body. Taxonomic formula: D1. 12-13; D2. 1; P1. 6; P2. 6; A. 5; C. 16.

It is an exotic fish in Bangladesh. It was brought from South Africa for ornamental purposes.
