Description:
The body is elongated, with an arched upper surface and a flat underside, particularly depressed towards the front and compressed towards the rear. The head is flattened. The gill membranes are broadly connected to the isthmus. The eyes are positioned dorsolaterally, and the space between them is flat. The dorsal fin is closer to the tip of the snout than to the base of the tail, typically having 8 (occasionally 9) branched rays and featuring an oblique and concave rear edge. The pectoral fin usually has 4-5 unbranched and 9-12 branched rays. The anal fin is short and somewhat falcate (sickle-shaped). There are typically 33 to 36 scales along the lateral line.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Occurs on small pebbles in shallow running water with sanday bottom of Jabuneswari river at Badarganj, Rangpur; Sangu river at Bandarban, Chittagong Hill Tracts, Jagat River at Rangpur, Mohananda river at Tetulia, Panchagar District; Tangan river at Thankurgaon.
