Description:
This perennial herb spreads prostrate via slender, creeping stems with runners, covered in silky hairs. Its leaves are digitately 3-5 foliate, with ovate to obovate leaflets that are double-toothed or serrate, cuneate at the base, and have ciliate margins. Flowers are solitary, long-pedunculate, polygamous, and pentamerous, with yellow petals. The fruit is spherical or oblong, turning bright red as it matures, resembling a small, round strawberry but spongy and tasteless.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
It typically grows in rice fields, along riverbanks, and in the margins of lakes, ponds, and swamps, and is widely distributed across Bangladesh.
