This perennial herb spreads prostrate via slender, creeping stems with runners, covered in silky hairs. Its leaves are digitately 3-5 foliate, with ovate to obovate leaflets that are double-toothed or serrate, cuneate at the base, and have ciliate margins. Flowers are solitary, long-pedunculate, polygamous, and pentamerous, with yellow petals. The fruit is spherical or oblong, turning bright red as it matures, resembling a small, round strawberry but spongy and tasteless.
