Description:
It is a perennial herb that grows underwater, characterized by rhizomes. Stolons extend horizontally just beneath the substrate surface and may produce turions at their tips. The stem is slender, somewhat flattened, and reddish in color, often dichotomously branched. Leaves are broadly linear to oblong, undulate, serrated, and usually oblong in shape, with deciduous and free stipules.

This herb thrives in various aquatic habitats such as ponds, lakes, ditches, beels, and haors. It is commonly distributed throughout Bangladesh.
