Description:
In general appearance, this bird can be distinguished from the Slavonian Grebe by its longer bill, which gives the head a more elongated appearance, as well as greyish cheeks and a thicker neck. During the summer, it exhibits a light grey throat and cheeks, along with a distinct black cap and chestnut-colored neck. In winter, it differs from the Great Crested Grebe in lacking a white area above the eyes and having a dark bill with a yellow base.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
The red-necked grebe (Podiceps grisegena) is a migratory water bird that inhabits temperate regions in the northern hemisphere. During winter, it primarily resides in tranquil waters just offshore from ocean coastlines, although some individuals may also winter on large lakes.
