Typically found in freshwater environments, this organism’s cell structure is rigid and ovate when viewed from the front, often featuring a short caudal process that is notably compressed and twisted. The periplast is adorned with longitudinal striae or rows of short spines. Chloroplasts are numerous and disc-shaped, while paramylum bodies are few, large, and ring-shaped.
