The cell body is typically round to polygonal in shape. It features a pronounced median cingulum that is relatively deep. The cell’s thecal plates are organized into 5-6 plates within the cingulum, and some of these plates may have apical and antapical projections. The cell’s outer structure, known as the epicone or epitheca, is composed of 11-14 thecal plates. In contrast, the hypocone or hypotheca, which makes up the inner portion of the cell, consists of 7-8 thecal plates. This unique arrangement of thecal plates and their distribution in the cell’s structure is a defining characteristic of this organism.
