Description:
The belly displays 26–28 scutes. A toothed hypomaxilla is present. The scales have upper and lower vertical striae that slightly overlap at the center of each scale. Swim bladder lacks a posterior tube (or tubes) extending into the body muscles. Head has a gold hue with the snout and chin appearing dusky. Body is dusky above, gold on the flanks, and silvery below.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Occurs in estuaries and Bay of Bengal. Enters tidal rivers.
