Description:
The suborbital and postorbital apex of the shell is very distinct. The supraorbital crest is equal to or nearly reaches the lateral epibrachial bar. Lateral epibranchial setae distinct and sharp. There are two joints in the jaw. The apex is bifurcated and has a large and sharp spine on the carapace of the pincers covering the maxillary incisors. Pincers have no spines and this is the main characteristic of this type of crab and recognition is not difficult and it is the largest of these water crabs.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Leaf crabs live in fresh water. Lives in water like rivers, streams, canals, lakes, ponds etc. Location: Lives in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Jessohar etc. districts of Bangladesh and various freshwater areas of rice land.
