Description:
Fin formula: D VI+I 12-13; A III 12-13; P i 11-12; V I 5. It has small and rather slender body. Mouth is oblique. 90 scales are present on lateral line. Lower jaw is almost equal to upper jaw. Scales are small. Body color: translucent and yellowish-green back; flank and belly silvery white with a silvery longitudinal bank on flank. Fins are hyaline. A golden spot on the occiput.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Widely distributed in clear freshwater streams, canals, beels, ponds and inundated paddy fields in Bangladesh.
