The male of this species is slender, with a distinct cervical depression across the center of the dorsal surface of the body. The urosome is five-segmented, and the caudal rami are symmetrical. The fifth leg is asymmetrical and well developed, with the right fifth leg larger than the left. The right fifth leg has two basipod, three exopod, and one endopod segments. The third exopod segment forms a claw, with the distal portion slightly curved and bearing serrations on two-thirds of the proximal inner margin. The left fifth leg has two basipod, with the inner margin bearing fine saw-type serrations (Roy, 2000).
The life cycle primarily consists of two stages, nauplius, and copepodids. Before molting to adulthood, the species completes six different naupliar and five copepodid stages. Newly hatched nauplius larvae lack external segmentations, but significant changes are observed at the molt of the copepodid, closely related to the adult stage.
