Description:
The turtle has an olive-green carapace with small black spots and an orange or red band on the first three vertebral shields. Both the carapace rim and marginals have a narrow yellow to pink border, along with a black streak or spot on the underside of each. The head is black above with a prominent red marking behind the eyes, and the neck is adorned with black and thin-yellow fine longitudinal lines. Limbs are spotted with yellow and have transversely enlarged scales. The plastron is pinkish-yellow in adults and orange in young individuals, comprising paired gular, humeral, axillary, pectoral, abdominal, inguinal, femoral, and anal shields. The male is slightly smaller than the female.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
It is found in freshwater wetlands, floodplains, and rivers.It occurs in the Ganges and Brahmaputra River System of Bangladesh.
