Description:
This fish has a very flat body, squeezed from the sides (deeply compressed). Dorsal and ventral profile almost equally convex. The mouth is small and located at the tip of the snout (terminal), with no barbels. The upper jaw juts out slightly further than the lower jaw. The gill opening is wide. The body is shiny silver with a darker colored back. All the fins are a light greenish color. It has a complete lateral line running along its side.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Adults occur in rivers, lakes, ponds and ditches.
