Fin formula: D 7; P₁ 1/10; P2 6; A 23-24. The fish has a depressed head and an oblique mouth, with the lower jaw being slightly longer than the upper. Teeth are arranged in a single row in both jaws. The lower margin of the orbit features pores. Scales are large and cycloid, with 27 in the lateral series, and the lateral line is absent. The head is scaled. The dorsal fin is positioned well back, inserted above the last fourth of the anal fin. Pectoral fins are slightly longer than the head, and the pelvic fins reach the anal fin. The caudal fin is rounded. The body is dull green above and white below, with a thin dark line running along the middle of the side, ending in a dull spot at the base of the caudal fin.
