Description:
This organism has a linear to lanceolate shape, tapering towards remarkably long projections. The raphe features fibulae, with a distinct central larger interspace when observed in cleaned, mounted material. The external canal wall displays porosity. Transverse striae and interstriae are barely discernible. The apical axis measures between 125 and 450 μm, while the transapical axis ranges from 6 to 7 μm.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
It is a diverse and widespread planktonic genus of freshwater, primarily lentic habitats.
