The carapace is brownish-black. Juveniles display vibrant colors with yellowish-orange ocelli, while adults can be entirely black or exhibit a typical vermiculated pattern on the dorsal shell.The head is olive with black reticulations and large orange or yellow patches across the snout and over the tympanic region behind the eyes. Limbs are olive or dark clay. Males have a relatively longer and thicker tail than females, with the vent located near the tip.

It lives in freshwater river systems, hill streams, wetlands, shrine ponds and dams.It occurs in Bostami pond, Chittagong region, Brahmaputra River System of Bangladesh
