Description:
The head has a featherless orange-yellow area that turns rose-red in breeding males. The large bill is yellow, and the legs are earthy-brown with rose-red highlights. The bird has a white neck and back, with white underparts featuring black barring across the breast. The wing-coverts are black with white bars, and the uppertail-coverts also have rose-red coloration. Its diet includes fish, frogs, rodents, and large insects.
