It features a distinct and complete longitudinal opercular ridge that is not strongly elevated and lacks supplemental opercular ridges. The gill-openings are small and rounded, located at the posterior superior angle of the opercle. The lateral snout ridge is poorly defined or nearly obsolete, while the principal bony ridges are distinct. The dorsal fin begins opposite the anus on the 15th ring and spans 8 rings, 2 of which are abdominal. The pectoral fins are small and rounded, pelvics are absent, and the anal fin is extremely small, situated in a distinct depression and separated from the anus by a transverse fleshy septum. The caudal fin is small and rounded.
