Description:
Fin formula: D. 50-51; P1. 16-18; A. 2-3; C. 8-9.The fish has an elongate and slender body with 16-17 rings on the trunk and 26-27 on the tail. The dorsal fin originates on the 15th or 16th trunk ring. Both the pectoral and caudal fins are small and rounded, while the pelvic fins are absent, and it has a minute anal fin. The body color is greenish above with a dirty white underside, and several dusky lines on the back form a network by intersecting each other. The caudal fin is red or reddish.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Found in rivers and estuaries throughtout Bangladesh. Very common in the river Meghna near Chandpur.
