Description:
The bacteria Microcystis aeruginosa is phototropic. It grows easily in gently flowing, nutrient-rich water. It is called “blue-green algae” because it appears as a greenish coating on lakes or pond surfaces that mimics an algal bloom.

They tend to grow in freshwater.
