Description:
The insect is small and elongately ovate, with a body length ranging from 24 to 28 mm. The ventral side is grayish, covered with pubescence, while the apices of the tarsi and eyes are piceous. The anterior portion of the pronotum is brownish, and the posterior pronotal margin, lateral scutellum margin, veins of the corium are fuscous, with the corium having a pale discal cell. The membrane and clavus, if present, are veinless. The head is notably broad, with the anteoculus broader than the interoculus. The eyes are large and situated closer to the anterior margin of the pronotum, while the ocelli are distant from the eyes. The antennae are 4-jointed, with the 2nd joint being the shortest, and the 3rd and 4th joints being approximately equal in length. The pronotum is as long as it is broad, with a slightly sinuate posterior margin. The foreleg is smaller than the midleg, and the midleg is smaller than the hind leg. The tarsi have three segments each, and the claws are single.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Lives on the surface of ponds and other water bodies. Typically, they forage on the floating vegetation and run out over the open water with remarkable agility. Found in Chittagong.
