Classification:
Kingdom: Protista
Phylum: Bacillariophyta
Class: Bacillariophyceae
Order: Melosirales
Family: Melosiraceae
Description:
organized into paired groups linked by cingula. Each cell has a diameter ranging from 13.0 to 16.0 μm and a mantle height of 10.0 to 14.5 μm. Scanning electron microscopy reveals that the valve face is convex-hemispherical with small granules, and the areolae are arranged randomly or in radiating rows from the center of the valves. The valve mantle is deep, and its edge displays a distinct milled appearance. Numerous rimoportulae are scattered over both the valve face and mantle, forming a ring near the mantle edge. Internally, the rimoportulae have rounded or elongated pores measuring 0.2 μm in diameter, surrounded by a narrow groove. There are two to eight open cingular bands, characterized by rows of pores nearly parallel to the pervalvar axis or slightly curved. All cingular bands except the valvocopula are ligulate, featuring triangular ligulae, and are covered on the valve mantle. Each band consists of elongated pores near the valvocopula, an unornamented area, and transverse rows of circular or elongated pores. The presence of cingula distinctly connects cells into pairs or triplets.
