Description:
The shell possesses a tall spire and a slender form, featuring a moderately sized body whorl. The whorls are gently curved, exhibiting a uniform and rounded shape. Dark red-brown dots and flame-like patterns adorn the shell surface, appearing either randomly scattered or arranged lengthwise. The shell is textured with elevated vertical ribs and spiral lines, more pronounced on the upper whorls and less prominent on the lower ones. The overall coloration is a dark brown hue, adorned with red-brown dots, flames, and bands.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Stagnant and slow moving, pond water, streams, rivers, irrigation canals and often extending into brackish water habitat near sea. It occurs in abundance in muddy drains, sedimented lakes, ponds and pools throughout the year, including the summer with very little water flow. Abundant in almost all the districts of Bangladesh, with wide and varied range from freshwater ponds to hill streams.
