Description:
This shell is relatively small and has a thick, round shape with fine horizontal lines. It has a perforated central hole (umbilicus) and a short, blunt spire. The umbilical opening is noticeable and usually indented, while the suture where the shell’s whorls meet is often grooved. The outer surface of the shell is decorated with delicate, wavy spiral patterns. The opening of the shell is somewhat oval, and the inner part (columella) is curved. The front edge of the opening is nearly straight, and the outer lip is curved. The shell is a consistent color without any distinct bands, typically in shades of olive-brown or yellowish-green.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Found burrowing in mud or sand in shallow waters, often in groups, throughout the year, but in the rainy season it also moves in temporary water bodies, irrigated paddy fields and canals. Found in almost all the districts of Bangladesh.
