Description:
M. lanchesteri, is a relatively small species characterized by a light and somewhat compressed body structure, along with a relatively large abdomen. Ovigerous females of M. lanchesteri may exhibit an overall length of merely 33 mm. In the wild, specimens are rarely found to exceed 50 mm.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Punarbhaba, Atrai, Teesta, Jamuneshwar, Tangon, Kulic river of the northern part of Bangladesh. The species appears to be indigenous to the swamps and ricelands. The species is found in freshwater bodies, rice fields, ponds, reservoirs, streams, rivers and also in brackish water habitat.
