The rostrum of this species extends up to the tip of the antennal scale, and its distal end is distinctly upturned. The upper and lower edges of the rostrum are armed with 7-11 and 4-7 teeth, respectively. The chela is tuberculate and shorter than the palm, and the carpus is subcylindrical. In females, the second pereiopod is shorter than in males. The fingers are approximately two-thirds the length of the palm and densely pubescent. The fixed finger bears one tooth, while the mobile finger bears two conical teeth, and the cutting edge may be naked or have some short hairs. In terms of coloration, the general body color is flesh with extensively distributed black pigments; in some cases, the body may be ash-colored. Dark brown cross bands are present on the chelipeds, antennae, and their flagellae. The carpus and chela of the second chelipeds are usually darker than other parts of the legs, while the swimmers have a light ash color. The eggs are yellowish-green. The maximum total length is 92 mm for males and 84 mm for females.
