The organism, Lepocinclis acuta, is characterized by its roughly ovoid or cylindrical body shape with a rigid pellicle marked by spiral striations. It often exhibits a short, spiny projection at the posterior end and occasionally features a stigma. Numerous disc-shaped chromatophores are found along the cell’s margins, while large, ring-shaped paramylum bodies are typically located laterally within the cell. Unlike similar organisms, Lepocinclis acuta does not possess pyrenoids. This species is commonly found in freshwater environments.
