Description:
The body shape is generally ovo-cylindrical and is supported by a rigid pellicle with spiral striations. Reproduction occurs through binary fission. These organisms feature a short spinous projection at the posterior end and may also have a stigma.

Recognized as a cosmopolitan species and inhabits freshwater.
