Description:
The fish has a broad head that tapers abruptly to the tail. Its mouth opens slightly downward and has two large teeth on each jaw. The gill-openings are significantly reduced, located in front of the pectoral base. There are two lateral lines; the upper one does not reach the end of the tail but meets the lower one above the anal fin, which is widely interrupted in the middle. The species lacks spines and pelvic fins, with the dorsal fin positioned well back, above the origin of the anal fin. All fins are rounded. The coloration is greenish-yellow above and white on the abdomen, with a light band between the eyes and a large black ocellus surrounded by a light edge on the side, anterior to the origin of the anal fin.

Found in ponds, beels, canals, river and other water areas throughtout Bangladesh.
