Description:
Fin formula: D. 2-3/9-10, P1. 1/15-17, P2. 1/8, A. 2-3/5-6. This fish has a long, lean body (elongated). Dorsal profile more convex than ventral. Snout juts out past its mouth and doesn’t have any flaps on the lateral lobes. It has big eyes, a thin mouth, and rather thick lips. Interestingly, it only has one small pair of barbells on its upper jaw (maxillary). The lateral line has 37 to 39 scales. This fish often has a dark spot above its pectoral fins (fins on the sides), and its fins may have a reddish tint.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
Inhabits large rivers and their tributaries, above tidal influences.
