The shell is relatively small and has an ovate, conical shape. The spire is tall and bulging, with a distinct, deep suture. The body whorl is fine and may have either a slightly raised ridge or wide, faint spiral bands. The operculum, a structure used for closing the shell’s opening, is thicker, and the muscular scar is well-developed. In adult specimens, the mantle’s edge is smooth. The shell is primarily blackish-brown with yellowish-brown markings. The aperture (the shell’s opening) is often black, and the columella (the inner part of the aperture) appears bluish-white with clouded black areas, while the opercular nucleus is white.
