Description:
Shape of body is elongated with flat head. Eyes are small and set high on the head. Belly is flat as well as mouth is located on the underside of the head. It has two barbels. Usually the body has a base colour of light brown to black. It may be spotted, striped or with one solid colour. Fin formula: D I/9; P₁ I/4; P2 I/4; A I/3-5.

Inhabits the lower part of rivers, muddy substrate, swamps and ponds
