Description:
This perennial grass forms dense mats and has creeping or trailing stems that are spongy. Feathery roots grow in whorls at the stem nodes. The leaf blades are ovate-oblong, ovate-lanceolate, or lanceolate in shape, with blunt or acute tips and rounded to cordate bases. They are rough-textured on the upper surface and smooth and waxy beneath.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
It typically grows in dry lowlands and still waters of lakes, ponds, canals and marshes, often along the margins of paddy fields. This species is commonly found throughout Bangladesh.
