Description:
The species is characterized by its robust and somewhat flattened body, with a notably broad brown head adorned with dark eye stripes, a ‘V’ marking on the top of the head, and an inverted ‘V’ on the snout. The dorsal surface typically appears plain brown or grey with less distinctive banding, while the ventral surface is white or yellowish, featuring dark brown spots along each side. Additionally, the tail is marked with brown spots.
Habitat & Distribution in Bangladesh:
The species inhabits freshwater bodies such as swamps, ponds, lakes, and forest streams. Its distribution is primarily concentrated in the wetlands of the northeastern region of Bangladesh
